Lancaster University has recently undergone a multi-million pound investment in general refurbishment of the campus and the building of new Chemistry, Physics and Engineering departments. Materials Science is a major focus of the university, as demonstrated by the recent establishment of a new cross-disciplinary Materials Science Institute. This has been coupled with a recent recruitment drive, which specifically targeted Materials Science as a core research area.
